As a father (and preacher), I have had some recent “God MOMENTS” with my daughter Katelyn. Prior to saying her prayers before bed tonight, we challenged each other with something God would have us work on in our lives. Before I could write it down, she said she would work on being “NICE” and treating others as she would like to be treated. Then she says to me that I should not only preach and share God’s love at church, but also when we go to California. Truth from a child – The light of Jesus and HIS love should be seen through our lives EVERYWHERE!
I am preaching the FINAL of our Sermon Series: “Undeniable PROOFS” this coming Sunday. One proof we see is the changed lives of the disciples. A PROOF of the GOSPEL people will see is our lives being changed. As we study the WORD and put it into practice, God is transforming our lives. In a practical determined way, I am so proud that Katelyn shared her Easter Lesson on Easter Sunday. She woke up not feeling well at all and had a temperature. She left before the Easter Egg hunt was done. But she wanted THE GOSPEL to be shared! Yes, she is learning “how to” minister. But even more she is being taught that it is about applying the WORD to our lives.
What about us? Are we focused on looking “GOOD” in the eyes of people or are we more concerned about living for GOD. I recently have said (and I remind myself) – JUST OBEY GOD! We don’t NEED a thank you, a pat on the back or our name in lights – just read the WORD and OBEY. Yes, it is easier said than done – especially when we do not see results or the results we would like in a timely fashion. The results are in HIS hands. We are to just – TRUST and OBEY!
I am reminded of the this story I read recently:
Years ago, a wealthy Chinese businessman visited England and was fascinated by a powerful microscope and the wonders it uncovered. So he bought one and took it back to China. He thoroughly enjoyed using it until one day when he looked at some rice that he was planning to eat for dinner. To his shock, he saw tiny living creatures crawling in it. He didn’t know what to do, since rice was a staple of his diet. Finally, in frustration, he smashed his microscope to bits. It had revealed something distasteful to him, so he destroyed the source of the discovery!
I leave you with these verses:
Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
James 1:21 (NIV)
21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
